Sexual Health

The World Health Organisation  has defined sexual health as

“a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity, in all matters relating to the reproductive system and to its functions and processes”.

Specialist training for sexual health covers the diagnosis and management of sexually transmissible infections including HIV, reproductive health, sexual function and the medical response to sexual assault. In addition to this some specialists undertake further training in the management of genital skin conditions and genital pain which may or may not be directly related to infection or injury.
